Up to 450 local high school students are expected to attend and receive a hands-on introduction to the range of opportunities open to them in the utility construction industry. \nHelp your students make a positive connection with the Utility Construction Industry.  Many students are ready to take the next steps to build a career in the trades and your participation is vital!  With the strong need for future workers\, it is important for students to consider the trades as a viable\, living wage career.  NWUCA Construction Career Day is designed to do just that by showcasing a friendly\, exciting\, and professional industry that cares about them and their future. The day will be filled with hands-on activities that educate young people about the industry by providing fun\, hands-on learning opportunities\, and give them the chance to apply what they are learning in their high school classrooms to real life situations. \n  \nCAREER DAY EVENTS & ACTIVITIES: \nCareer Day events include three main areas of participation: \n\nBooth Exhibits provide valuable information for the students and educators.   Contractors\, suppliers\, trade apprenticeship programs\, and industry supporters will be among the booth exhibitors.\nHands-On Activities are opportunities for students to try performing job-related skills and functions in a controlled environment\, installing piping\, utilizing GPS Systems in relation to excavation and utility construction\, exposure to computer programs associated with estimating and bidding work\, virtual reality equipment simulation\, and more!\nHeavy Equipment will include both static equipment with operators available to explain the nature of their job and the industry; and operating equipment where the students\, under the guidance of a trained operator\, can actually run the equipment in a controlled\, safe environment under skilled direction.\n\n*Transportation only provided to first 10 schools registered.
